Earl Mercer picked up his first guitar at fourteen and never put it down. Over the years, he taught himself harmonica, piano and double bass, mostly for an audience of one. For more than fifty years, his music lived behind a closed garage door. At sixty-seven, clients at his garage heard him play. They were stunned and offered him a free studio session.
That were stunned, and offered him a free session in a studio. That push turned evening jams into neighbourhood nights, and neighbourhood nights into a record. At seventy, Earl released his debut album, proving the blues has no age limit. Today, he plays to full rooms in his trademark striped suit, with the same joy as that fourteen-year-old boy.
THE STORY
1970
Age 14 - The first chord. An old guitar, a quiet bedroom, and a boy who played every single evening. No stage, no audience, just music.

1988
Age 32 - The garage opens. Earl opens up the business of his dream; a garage to restore cruising cars.

2023
Age 67 - Clients come in early on their appointment and hear him play.

2023
Age 67 - Friday nights. Word spread fast. Every Friday, the garage filled up with chairs, coffee and strangers who became regulars.

2026
Age 70 — The first record. Recorded live in the garage, mostly in one take. Seventy Summers became the debut nobody saw coming.
